Building on the success of THE12 SUB ACTIVE, THE16 SUB ACTIVE SEALED was developed in direct response to customer and dealer demand for a larger active subwoofer at an approachable price point.
The mission was clear: Deliver greater extension, exceptional punch, and lightning-fast response in a compact enclosure. The result is a subwoofer that feels as powerful as it is precise. THE16 SUB ACTIVE SEALED delivers incredible performance for its size, combining speed, depth, and control in a way that must be experienced to be understood.

16” Driver in a Small Enclosure

THE16 utilizes a sealed enclosure, chosen for its ability to deliver superior accuracy, transient response, and musicality. Despite housing a larger driver, the enclosure remains remarkably compact, and is only slightly larger than THE12.

To push beyond conventional limits, we engineered the 16-inch woofer to fit in a space typically reserved for smaller designs. This was made possible through a high-roll, narrow surround capable of extreme linear excursion with minimal distortion. At the core is a triple-layer sandwich cone with a Rohacell core, combining stiffness and low mass for deeper extension and faster response.

A triple-stack magnet motor delivers the control needed for sealed performance, achieving optimal system balance while maintaining authority and precision. With 42mm of linear excursion (Xmax), THE16 moves air effortlessly while staying composed.

Power & Connectivity

Our amplifier section uses an auto-sensing SMPS power supply that supports worldwide mains voltages from 110V to 230V. (An auto sense feature turns the subwoofer on automatically, with an option for it to remain on at all times.) It delivers 1 kW (RMS) of output power, with ample dynamic headroom to reproduce peak transients cleanly and without distortion. A 12V trigger input is included for safe, processor- or preamp-controlled power on/off.

The connectivity remains the same excellent design of THE12, with Balanced XLR inputs for LFE, which is a full-range design with no processing, allowing the surround processor to handle bass management. Two RCA inputs for stereo applications complete the input section, featuring a variable crossover from 50 to 150Hz. There is also a variable phase control and a gain knob to perfectly level the woofer.
